Enjoy a warm, comforting twist on traditional Irish Soda Bread, made with walnuts and creamy Maytag Blue Cheese Crumbles.
Ingredients
- 4 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 tsp baking soda
- 1 tsp salt
- 1 Tbsp sugar
- 1 3/4 cup buttermilk
- 2 Tbsp cold butter, cubed
- 3/4 cup walnuts, chopped
- 4 oz. Maytag Blue Cheese Crumbles
Directions
- Preheat oven to 400° F. In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, salt, and sugar.
- Add the cubed butter. With your hands, knead the butter into the flour mixture until just combined.
- Make a well in the center of the mixture and pour in the buttermilk. Mix gently until a dough forms.
- Gently fold in the chopped walnuts and Maytag Blue Cheese Crumbles until evenly mixed.
- Place the dough on a lightly floured surface and shape into a round loaf.
- Transfer to a parchment-lined baking sheet and bake for 35-45 minutes, until golden brown.
- Once baked, transfer to a wire rack and cool for at least 30 minutes before slicing.
