Cheddar Apple Honey Galette

Enjoy the sweet-savory balance of Maytag Honey and 1-Year Aged Cheddar in this Cheddar Apple Honey Galette, best served as a brunch centerpiece or a light dessert.

 

 

Ingredients

  •  1 premade pie crust
  • 3/4 cup Maytag 1-Year Aged Cheddar, shredded
  • 2-3 thinly sliced Gala apples
  • 2 Tbsp Maytag Honey
  • 2 Tbsp brown sugar
  • 1 Tbsp flour
  • 1/2 tsp cinnamon
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1 Tbsp lemon juice
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 Tbsp granulated sugar

 

Directions

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F. Roll out the pie crust onto a parchment-lined baking sheet.
  2. Sprinkle the shredded Maytag 1-Year Aged Cheddar evenly on the pie crust, leaving a 1-inch border on all sides.
  3. In a large bowl, mix the sliced apples, Maytag Honey, brown sugar, flour, cinnamon, salt, and lemon juice until apples are coated.
  4. Layer the apples evenly in the middle of the crust, slightly overlapping each slice; continue to leave the 1-inch border in place. 
  5. Fold the outer edges up and over the filling, pleating the crust as you go. Brust the crust with egg wash and sprinkle with granulated sugar.
  6. Bake for 35-40 minutes, or until the crust is flaky and golden. Remove from oven and let cool for 30 minutes before finishing with a drizzle of Maytag Honey.
